First Time!
Today is a really slow day at work, so I thought.. why not finally start a blog? A co-worker of mine suggested wordpress, so here I am. I literally have got no work at all to do today here at the full time job.
2009 is going to be a great year for me. I have myself associated with a wedding photographer, who will be sending me a lot of new jobs. I’ll be making more money than I would on my own, too. She’s setting me up with her professional printer and I really can’t wait to get started. I’m on my trial run right now, but things seem to be going very well. It’s only a matter of time before she has my name & number on her website, and I hope to receive phone calls all the time! Well, maybe not all the time…
I’ve also set up a bunch of photoshoots for January already. These are all TFCD shoots, which is a bummer in some ways but I really want to keep building my portfolio. I feel much less pressure when I’m doing a job for free, even though I know I’ll be able to take fantastic photos of each of my models. Yesterday I shot with a girl from Florida, and this weekend I have photoshoots with two bands (Connery & Take Her, She’s Mine). The weekend after I am shooting a wedding with Roxanne, and Sunday I have free because a day off will be what I need! The weekend after I am shooting with Selena & a woman from work. February holds some really fun stuff, though. Crystal and I will be shooting an anti-drug theme directed toward her age-group. I’m very excited about that one, we have some amazing ideas in place. She’s a fresh new face, too. I’ve been looking for blondes because it seems that I have NONE! Selena, and a few Senior Photo girls, but I really want a girl with long blonde hair. We’ll see how far I get there. I’m also hoping to shoot with The Minus Scale in February, I’m looking forward to that. There’s a girl in NH that I hope to meet with on that same day.
All in all, I am very busy and I hope to keep booking dates. I am not going to take any more TFCD models after March, because I am going to be so busy with weddings, and lots of the fashion stuff I have in mind. I’ll be on hiatus from mid August until mid September for my honeymoon & wedding. This year is going to fly by so fast.. I don’t think anyone realizes how busy I actually am. Working 40 hours a week doesn’t allow for any week day photo shoots, and my weekends book up so quickly. I hope I can shoot as many Seniors this year as I did last year, though. They were so much fun to work with. I’m also hoping to do some before prom photos, too.
Happy New Year!

Congratulations on the new Blog! You may not know it yet, but you actually just made a really big, and positive, choice regarding your on-line presence. WebPress is extremely powerful, beyond just being a blogging platform. And while WordPress.com may not be the greatest thing in the world, you can create pages and content and seamlessly transfer them to a domain later for a pretty awesome website in the future. I have been doing web design for a few centuries now (feels like it) and WordPress is by far my favorite platform, and I always try to usher photographers away from flash sites and towards text-based sites, so you are already two-steps there. Good for you!
As for 2009 being a good year, I hear you! I just hooked up with a local photographer as well, and the prospect of sudo-regular wedding work has me just about bursting. It seems like all I have been doing lately is TFCD. It’s a tunnel with no light… Luckily I brought my strobes with me!
It pays off in the end, thats what I keep telling myself. At some point I will get a call from someone with a budget, and it will all click. Until then, I get to do the gigs I want. They may be volunteer, but at least I actually want to do them.
Best of luck to you! And congrats, again, on the “first post.”

Thanks so much! Hopefully everything falls into place at some point. After I start a family I am aiming for doing JUST photography work, no more of this other stuff! We’ll see, I did go to school for 4 years for something. Thanks for all the luck and comments. It’s nice to know there are people who care and look out for others. I’m excited to start this new blog, and I hope to have a million views by the end of the year
Or something like that..
