Wedding at the Bar Harbor Regency!

July 11, 2009 at 7:16 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Today I had the opportunity to be a part of Randy & Heather’s wedding in Bar Harbor. It was a gorgeous day for it! Especially for the month and a half of rain we had…

handsThis was part of the hand cleansing ceremony.

DSC_0727The kids were a BIG part of the wedding today. Randy has two of his own, and I believe that the others were nieces/nephews. They all had a special role in the ceremony. This shot is from after the ceremony and it is NOT posed.

DSC_0784bwcropThis shot is MUCH better in the big version. The kids had a blast, they were hilarious.

There are a ton of other shots that I fell in love with, but I’ve only been home for a few hours and I am in need of relaxation. Tomorrow consists of a fashion shoot in the AM & a promo/live shoot in the afternoon. I will, eventually, get a day off.

Fundraiser show on August 15th!

July 2, 2009 at 7:22 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

So, as most of you know already – I am putting on a really great show for my friends at gnarlyriders.org ..

It’s going to be at the Big Easy in Portland, Maine. August 15th, and  the potential start up time is 6pm.. this is still subject to change as I’m still planning with Derek at TBE. Anyway, this is a FULL fundraiser event. All ticket sales will be going to the Michael J Fox Foundation & James/JP. They’re riding their BIKES through Europe and Africa.. RIGHT NOW! We’re stuck in America, so why not do what YOU can do to help these guys? Read more about it here : http://www.gnarlyriders.org/blog/?page_id=2

I am still in the middle of getting a full line up, so if your band is interested in playing – contact me! Any musicians welcome. 🙂 I am thinking about 5 bands, so if yours isn’t chosen for this – we have other opportunities!! COME OUT TO THIS SHOW! They money we raise is going to help a bigger cause. $10 for a ticket!

Also, I’ll be selling posters at the show & all proceeds will go to James and JP as well. Some of the shots people love the most will be up for sale… for very little $$!! You don’t want to miss this. Seriously. 🙂

Shooting with Madison.

June 30, 2009 at 10:36 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

I rarely have the opportunity to shoot kids because I am so so busy with fashion work & senior portraits.. So, on the ONE day that there was no rain in the past 3 weeks, I was able to shoot a 13 month old girl! It was difficult to put her in a spot that the lighting was great, she wanted nothing to do with that!! This shoot was a surprise for Madison’s dad , from Madison’s grandmother.

The sizing is all weird on here, but maybe I’ll figure that out.

Total Wishlist.

May 5, 2009 at 2:20 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

If I had a never ending bank account, these are the top 5 things I would be purchasing.

5. Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 AF-S  – Roughly around $1800

4. California Sunbounce Reflectors – $300 +

3. Plume Wafer Softboxes – $175+

2. An endless tank of gas to travel the country – $endless

1. Nikon D3x body only – $8000

Unfortunately for me, I do not have an endless bank account. I do fairly well for what I do have, I must admit. Big plans for the future.

Keep your eyes open, you may see me make it big, or something… 😉

Maine Professional Photographers Association!

February 4, 2009 at 8:10 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Recently I have been invited to join the Maine Professional Photographer’s Association.  I’m very excited and looking forward to joining within the next year or so. I need a tax id number, which I do not currently have.. so I will have to work on that. I’ll be able to actually consider myself a business, how exciting. 2009 is already holding such interesting things for me!
I edited some photos from a shoot last month yesterday. I have so much to edit I feel like I am going to explode. But I really like how some of these came out. Hopefully I will have more within the next few weeks.

Devon.

January 29, 2009 at 6:20 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

I’ve decided to start posting some photos. I’ve been a total slacker recently, so here are a couple. This is Devon, she is a regular for me. If I were to ever open a modeling agency, she would be one of the first one’s I would contact. She’s easy going, fun, and never shies away from a photo opportunity. I love working with her!

Please feel free to let me know what you like or dislike about these photos. I have a ton more available if you are interested. I also have a photoshoot this weekend with a coworker’s stepdaughter, so I am looking forward to that! 🙂

Here’s to 2009.

January 8, 2009 at 3:45 pm (Uncategorized)

Last night I was super stressed out about different aspects of my photography career, and where I want to go in the next year or so. I’ve had some plans (that I’m not mentioning yet, just in case) that I am unsure of, and I’ve had some offers thrown my way. So I spent the entire evening repricing for 2009. I’m excited about it, because the prices are affordable and the packages include a lot of stuff. I’m excited to start booking weddings this year, especially because I know so much more than I did last year.

I’ve been doing a little bit of basic design for some myspaces and posters, etc. It’s not as extreme as I’ve seen, but I’m not really into the design aspect as much as I am into taking and editing the photos. Design is something I really have to work on, but I feel relatively confident because I’ve had no background in it. Being self taught has it’s ups and downs, but mostly I feel good about it. I learn by others who are self taught as well as those who took many classes. I just love what I do.

I’m at work again, so no uploading photos. I swear I will do it one of these days. I’m going to the gym (finally!) after work so probably not tonight either. I am exhausted and don’t even want to GO to the gym. This is the first step… hahah.

I guess I should go continue to work hard on some case files. The 8-4 job is supporting my habit (photography) right now, so let’s get back to work!! 😉

Busy busy.

January 5, 2009 at 2:17 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Saturday I met with Take Her, She’s Mine (a local band from Lewiston) and we were able to get some really nice promo shots. It was FREEZING out, but we managed. Lots of frozen hands. I told them to dress WARM because I know what it’s like to shoot in this horrible weather. The lighting was beautiful, and I think the guys had a pretty good time. (The shots are available on myspace, and deviantart). On Sunday I met with Connery and took promotional shots of them, as well. They are another local band. It was just as cold, and we went to the railroad bridge area… bad idea. My hands were colder than the day before. The shots came out pretty well, I think, I uploaded them last night. I will be editing those later today, I have a lot of work to do when I get out of work… yuck.

I also had a shoot on January 1st with Lisa, some of her photos are on model mayhem as well as the other websites (can be found in my links section). I like some of the shots, but some of them I was disappointed in. I haven’t perfected studio shots, maybe that’s because I don’t have a studio. I’ll survive.

Last night I was awake until 1am editing photos for a friend of mine. I did a shoot with her daughter around 8 or 9 months old and she was adorable. I finally finished all the photos and I really hope that they love them. This little girl had eyes like the sun. Only… blue.

This weekend I’m shooting the wedding & I believe that’s it. Sunday is a day for me & my bridesmaids. It’s really hard to plan a wedding, work a full 40 hours in an office and another 30 at home with photography. I love every moment of it, though. I can’t complain a bit. Besides, my photography is helping pay for my wedding. Tonight we have a cake tasting. I hope it’s delicious.

Hopefully I will post a gallery later. I am posting this blog from work, so that’s why I haven’t done any photo posts yet.

First Time!

January 2, 2009 at 3:06 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Today is a really slow day at work, so I thought.. why not finally start a blog? A co-worker of mine suggested wordpress, so here I am. I literally have got no work at all to do today here at the full time job.

2009 is going to be a great year for me. I have myself associated with a wedding photographer, who will be sending me a lot of new jobs. I’ll be making more money than I would on my own, too. She’s setting me up with her professional printer and I really can’t wait to get started. I’m on my trial run right now, but things seem to be going very well. It’s only a matter of time before she has my name & number on her website, and I hope to receive phone calls all the time! Well, maybe not all the time…

I’ve also set up a bunch of photoshoots for January already. These are all TFCD shoots, which is a bummer in some ways but I really want to keep building my portfolio. I feel much less pressure when I’m doing a job for free, even though I know I’ll be able to take fantastic photos of each of my models. Yesterday I shot with a girl from Florida, and this weekend I have photoshoots with two bands (Connery & Take Her, She’s Mine). The weekend after I am shooting a wedding with Roxanne, and Sunday I have free because a day off will be what I need! The weekend after I am shooting with Selena & a woman from work. February holds some really fun stuff, though. Crystal and I will be shooting an anti-drug theme directed toward her age-group. I’m very excited about that one, we have some amazing ideas in place. She’s a fresh new face, too. I’ve been looking for blondes because it seems that I have NONE! Selena, and a few Senior Photo girls, but I really want a girl with long blonde hair. We’ll see how far I get there. I’m also hoping to shoot with The Minus Scale in February, I’m looking forward to that. There’s a girl in NH that I hope to meet with on that same day.

All in all, I am very busy and I hope to keep booking dates. I am not going to take any more TFCD models after March, because I am going to be so busy with weddings, and lots of the fashion stuff I have in mind. I’ll be on hiatus from mid August until mid September for my honeymoon & wedding. This year is going to fly by so fast.. I don’t think anyone realizes how busy I actually am. Working 40 hours a week doesn’t allow for any week day photo shoots, and my weekends book up so quickly. I hope I can shoot as many Seniors this year as I did last year, though. They were so much fun to work with. I’m also hoping to do some before prom photos, too.

Happy New Year!
